There is a short tutorial on how Carrots&Cake works. You may choose to skip if you already know how to use Carrots&Cake.

First, kids need to complete their “Carrots”

Then, when they complete their “Carrots”, kids get their “Cake”.

An Allow Notifications pop-up will show after the tutorial. Allowing Notifications ensures Carrots&Cake is able to alert users on how much remaining time they have as well as when they finish their Carrot or Cake app.

Click on Select Educational Apps. This will start the set-up process. It will take around 5-10 minutes and you only need to do it once per device.

First, we have to Allow Access to Screen Time. Apple ensures that all screen time data is private and secured. Allowing access to Screen Time enables Carrots&Cake to precisely track your Carrot and Cake apps.

Click on Continue when the Apple Pop-up allowing access to Screen Time shows up.

On the next screen, enter your child’s name and year of birth. This enables us to suggest suitable apps based on your child’s age. Click next after entering your child’s name and Year of Birth.

These are app recommendations filtered and tested by our team of experts. However, Carrots&Cake is not affiliated with any of the apps. Click “I have downloaded the apps above” if you have already downloaded any of them. You may also choose to proceed with the apps already on your device by clicking “I already have apps”.

In the app picker, you may choose the apps you want to connect as Carrots by first selecting the category the app is in and then selecting the app itself. You can only select individual apps and cannot select entire categories.

After selecting the apps you want to set as Carrots, Click on Save and Proceed.

Next, name your Carrots as this helps identify the app. Set the time needed to complete the app as well. Click on “Next” when you’re done.

Next, click on Select Apps To Block.

Here, you can Block Games and Apps, Safari, and uninstallation. First, click on “Select apps to block”.

Here, you can select specific apps or categories to block. You can also choose to block All Apps & Categories. This will block all apps that are not set as Carrots. Click “Done” once you are satisfied with your choices.

Next, you can choose to Block Safari during Carrot Time. You can also choose to block uninstallation. This prevents Carrots&Cake from being uninstalled from the device. Click “Finish Setting Restrictions” when you are done.

Next, set Cake Time. The apps you blocked during Carrot Time will be unblocked during Cake Time. Cake Time is when apps are unblocked and kids can use any apps. Click “Finish setup” when you are done setting Cake Time.

Almost There! Click “Finish” and then “Activate Schedule”. This will bring you to the account creation screen for first-time users.

Here is the last step. Create a free account with us by entering your email address, password and a 4-digit PIN. Once you are done, click “Register & Activate Schedule” and you are done with the setup. Hooray!
