There is a short tutorial on how Carrots&Cake works. You may skip if you already know how to use Carrots&Cake.

First kids need complete their Carrots - learning apps.

After kids complete their Carrots, they get Cake - free screen time!

An 'Allow Notifications' pop-up will show after the tutorial. Allowing Notifications ensures Carrots&Cake can alert kids on their remaining time.

Click ‘Select Learning Apps’ to start set-up. It will take 5-10 minutes. You only need to do it once per device.

You must ‘Allow Screen Time’ to enable Carrots&Cake to follow your progress. Apple ensures all your data stays private and secure.

Click ‘Continue’ on the Apple pop-up to access Screen Time.

Enter your child’s name and birth year. That way we can suggest fun learning apps!

Click ‘Education’ then select the apps you want to set as Carrots. Do not select all the apps in this category. At least one must not be selected. We recommend choosing 2-3 to start.

These apps are tested by our team of experts. Click ‘I have downloaded the apps above’ after downloading them. You may also proceed with the apps already on your device and click ‘I already own apps’.

After choosing your Carrots, click Continue.

Name your Carrots so your child can identify their tasks. Choose how long you want your child to spend on each Carrot.

Next, click on 'Set Restrictions'.

Let’s keep kids safe and learning distraction free. Select ‘All Apps & Categories’.

Carrots&Cake blocks uninstallation and Safari by default.

Set your child’s Cake Time. This is their free screen time when all apps unblock.

Almost done, click ‘Activate Schedule’ to start using Carrots&Cake.

Choose a password and hand your child the device. Congratulations! You just took control of screen time and your family is building healthy habits!

Account Setup

How to get started with Carrots&Cake?

Carrots&Cake needs to be installed on both the parent’s and the child’s devices. For the app to work properly across devices, Apple Family Sharing is required.

Follow the guided steps in the app to link both devices. Setup should only take a few minutes.

How many chores can be assigned to a child's account?

There’s no limit to the number of chores you can assign. You can also set specific rewards such as Robux or pocket money for each completed chore.

How can I edit the chores for my child?

During onboarding, you’ll set up your child’s account by selecting chores and assigning rewards (Robux or pocket money).

After setup, you can edit chores anytime in the Parent Zone under:
Quick Actions, or
The Schedule tab.

How can I edit Cake Time?

Cake Time can only be managed from the Parent Zone.

Go to: Schedule tab → Cake Time Management → Set Daily Time.
Cake Time can be adjusted in increments, with a minimum of 15 minutes.

How can I disable Safari, AppStore, and Uninstallation Blocking?

On the child’s device, these restrictions are enabled by default and cannot be changed.

On the parent’s device, these settings are not affected.

Why does the pause button disappear in the last 15 minutes of Cake Time?

To keep the parent and child devices in sync, pausing Cake Time during the last 15 minutes is disabled.

What is Cake Time?

Cake Time is your child’s free time online. Once chores are done, all previously blocked apps are unlocked. Parents can still block specific apps from their device.

Carrots&Cake ensures that inappropriate content stays blocked, while giving kids the freedom to enjoy their chosen apps and games responsibly.

Why do you require Screen Time Access?

Carrots&Cake works with Apple’s Screen Time API to:

- Track your child’s progress on chores,
- Manage Cake Time, and
- Provide you with updates and reports.

Your data remains fully protected by Apple.

What if I get an error when I try to allow Screen Time Access?

You will sometimes receive an error due to a slow internet connection. Try again.
If you still can't ‘Allow Screen Time Access’, you may have an extra profile installed on your device. Alternatively, you may have enabled Apple Screen Time Access on another app.

Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Uninstall the extra profile.

Go to Settings > Screen Time > Apps with Screen Time Access > Toggle off the other apps that have access to Apple Screen Time

After that, return to the Carrots&Cake setup and allow Screen Time Access.

What is Robux?

Robux is the virtual currency used in Roblox, one of the most popular gaming platforms for kids.
Robux lets players buy:

- Avatar clothing and accessories,
- Game passes, and
- Special in-game features.

With Carrots&Cake, kids can earn Robux by completing chores—giving them fun rewards while learning responsibility.

Where can I buy Robux for my child?

You can purchase Robux through several official and safe channels:

- Roblox Website (Desktop): Often the best value — prices are slightly cheaper compared to mobile purchases.
- Mobile App Stores (iOS/Android): Convenient, but usually includes a small markup.
- Roblox Gift Cards: Available online (Amazon, Target, Walmart) or in local retail stores. Gift cards can be redeemed for Robux or Roblox Premium.

💡 Tip: If you want the most value, buy Robux directly from the Roblox website on a computer rather than through the mobile app.

Is Robux expensive?

It depends on how you compare it. Robux can actually be a cost-effective reward compared to giving kids cash.

- Robux Pricing: For example, 1,000 Robux costs about $10 USD.
- Kid Perception: Many kids feel that 1,000 Robux is a huge reward — much more exciting than simply receiving $10 in cash.
- Parent Value: This makes Robux a lower-cost way to motivate your child, since the same amount of money feels like more to them when given in Robux.

In short, Robux often delivers more “happiness per dollar” than pocket money, which is why many parents use it as part of their reward system.

Will I get more Robux points if I complete chores (Carrots) multiple times a day by resetting the schedule?

That depends on the rules you set as a parent.

However, we recommend setting a daily limit for rewards. Too much Robux in one day may overwhelm your child and reduce the long-term value of the chore system. The goal is to build responsibility, accountability, and healthy habits, not just maximize rewards.
